The farmer community in the state celebrates the Maharashtrian festival of Bendur to acknowledge the importance of bulls and oxen, who are a vital part of agriculture and farming activities. To celebrate the annual occasion, people decorate their cattle with shawls, bells, ornament, cloths and flowers, their horns are polished and coloured, and they get new reins and ropes.
