As Mickey Mouse Turns 90, Disney Parks to Host 'World's Biggest Mouse Party'

Walt Disney Co.'s most popular character Mickey Mouse is all set to turn 90 next month on November 18. And the occasion will be marked with World's Biggest Mouse Party later this year. The celebrations are going to continue into 2019. Disney Parks will celebrate mark Mickey's birthday by honouring the release of his first theatrical film, Steamboat Willie on November 18, 1928 – with merchandise, treats, photo locations and much more.

A star-studded ABC event dedicated to Mickey Mouse will also be held. An extended-length birthday episode of Disney Channel’s Mickey Mouse animation shorts and dozens of new books, arts and crafts and comics from Disney Publishing will all be a part of Mickey's 90th birthday celebration. And from July onwards, a new show, Disney On Ice presents Mickey's Special Celebration, will start touring throughout the Asia Pacific region. Disneyland to Sell Alcohol for First Time.

Adding more glitter to the festivities, legendary Disney animator Mark Henn will paint Mickey Mouse's official 90th portrait that will debut on the cover of Disney twenty-three. D23 will also host Destination D: Celebrating Mickey Mouse at Walt Disney World Resort this November for two days of panels, presentations and entertainment.

Livemint quoted Abhishek Maheshwari, country head, Disney India as saying, "Mickey exists in all our verticals including television, gaming and touring productions, but its popularity is most visible in consumer products." Our favourite mouse deserves it all, after all, he has been entertaining people of different generations for 90 years. According to the report, brands like ONLY, Vero Moda and Jack & Jones, carmaker Volkswagen and retail firm DLF Brands will bring out special collections for the celebrations.
