The incident occurred on Friday in Lalpur Ward 14, under the jurisdiction of Bhimnagar police station. When the department did not respond immediately, the men tied the crocodile's mouth shut with rope, and one of them hoisted the animal onto his shoulder before walking it all the way to Bhimnagar police station, a moment that was captured on camera and quickly spread online.

Crocodile Examined And Released Into Kosi River

The crocodile was given a health check up and found to be completely fit. After completing the necessary departmental procedures, forest officials released it safely back into the Kosi river, its natural habitat.

Forester Ravi Ranjan said the rescued crocodile measured around 4 feet 16 inches in length. He explained that during the monsoon season, rising river levels and interconnected waterways often push crocodiles and other wild animals into nearby agricultural fields and residential areas.

Officials Urge Public Not To Attempt Rescues Themselves

Officials have appealed to residents not to panic or take matters into their own hands when they encounter wild animals like crocodiles. They stressed that the forest department should be contacted immediately so trained personnel can safely handle such situations.

In this particular case, both the villagers and the crocodile escaped the ordeal unharmed, with locals taking care to ensure the reptile was not injured while being restrained.

The forest department has also urged people to avoid spreading rumours or attempting to approach or harm wild animals, asking them instead to report sightings so trained rescue teams can capture and release the animals safely.
