Ganley, who had amassed more than 2.4 million followers on Instagram, was found unresponsive inside his Sao Paulo apartment after friends reportedly failed to hear from him for two days. According to G1 Globo, his death certificate cited hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, a disease that causes the heart muscle to thicken and can lead to sudden cardiac death.
The Mayo Clinic describes HCM as a condition in which the heart muscle becomes abnormally enlarged, making it harder for the heart to pump blood. Authorities said Ganley was discovered face-down in his apartment on Saturday after a friend asked building staff for help entering the unit. The Sao Paulo Public Security Secretariat (SSP) initially classified the case as a “suspicious death – sudden death,” though police confirmed there were no signs of violence.
Investigators reportedly found several medications and possible anabolic steroids inside the apartment, according to Brazilian media reports citing police documents.
