India needs urgent attention. NITI Aayog warned that groundwater levels in 21 popular cities including, Delhi, Bangalore and Hyderabad will dry up completely by 2020, affecting millions of lives in the nation. Chennai is already running out of water. The city has been reeling under its worst water crises in decades with its four main reservoirs Sholavaram, Chembarambakkam, Poondi and Red Hills, going completely empty. Amidst the dire situation, a residential society in Surat has set a great example by harvesting rainwater. In the video, a man can be heard explaining the process of how the rainwater is first preserved, cleaned and released for everyday use. Sharing the clip, the 29-year-old actress highlights the serious concern of water crises that the country is likely to face in the coming year, if NITI Aayog's warning is to be taken seriously. “This society in Surat, does something very innovative to harvest rainwater. Check it out. 21 cities might run out of ground water by 2020. Millions of lives will be effected. We are approaching climate apartheid. A severe water shortage has striked Chennai, a city home to at least 9 million people. Reportedly, Chennai has not had rains for about 200 days, with only over the past recent days that it has been showered with light rainfall. Activists, government agencies, environmentalists and many popular faces are appealing other metropolitan cities to learn their lesson and set up urban water planning that can regulate the supply, demand and maintenance of water services and structures.
