Mumbai, November 27: Celebrity couple Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone got married at Lake Como in Italy recently. News channels went crazy in their quest to cover the exotic event. Brands too didn't leave any stone unturned to gain mileage out of their wedding. One such brand was Kotak Mahindra Bank, who launched their limited debit cards featuring the actor during this time. It is a first-of-its-kind in the country, which gives the bank's customers and fans of the actor the option to choose from six images of the Bollywood star. The card will be available for customers to order for a limited period till December 31, 2018. At the time of their wedding, the brand planned their marketing strategy around it. When the date of their wedding came out, the bank said '811 celebrates 15.11'. Kotak 811 is a new-age bank account offered by Kotak Mahindra Bank. Singh was roped in as the brand ambassador of Kotak Mahindra Bank.
The bank branches were decked up like a wedding venue and customers were treated to sweets when they entered the premises. The initiative was interestingly captioned ‘ladki wale bhi muh meetha kijiye’, thus subtly addressing competitors as Deepika Padukone, who is the face of Axis Bank.
Karthi Marshan, Chief marketing officer, Kotak Mahindra Group as quoted in a Money Control report said, "Last time, we ran a special edition Paresh Maity (artist) card and we sold 20,000 of them, followed by another campaign around Independence Day where we launched the ‘fauji card’ and sold around 78,000 cards. This time, since we are talking about Ranveer Singh, our aspirations are not just in sync with our past success of limited edition cards, but our conservative estimates are way too higher."
From launching creatives with the message 'Card Mila Kya' during Ranveer and Deepika's wedding to decorating the bank, Kotak Mahindra Bank has managed to create good mileage and noise in the already cluttered space.
