A young girl from Manipur, Valentina Elangbam, has been appointed as ambassador of 'Chief Minister’s Green Manipur Mission', after a video of her crying over cutting of trees that she planted, went viral. The development came after the clip of the nine-year-old crying moved social media including the state’s Chief Minister, N. Biren Singh. Valentina has been appointed as the new and young ambassador of his Green Manipur Mission Scheme. Deforestation + Climate Change = Dead End for Wildlife.

Valentina who is a Class 5 student of Amutombi Divine Life School in Hiyanglam Wabagai, reportedly planted the trees when she was in Class 1. She planted the trees near the bank of a river that flows their locality. In the viral video, Valentina can be seen sobbing abundantly as she sees the trees planted by her being cut down.

The clip has touched people on social media, including Manipur’s Chief Minister. Singh decided to make her the ambassador of Green Manipur Mission Scheme.

Meanwhile, the state forest department provided 20 saplings to plant along the road covering about two kilometres on her request. Besides, it has also been reported that the Youth club in her locality decided to plant around 1,000 saplings in the locality, acknowledging her love for trees. Manipur is famous for its natural beauty, and the north-eastern state in India expects to boost its tourism through planting greeneries.
