In a distressing incident, a woman was allegedly molested by the driver and helper of a private ambulance while transporting her terminally ill husband home in Uttar Pradesh's Lucknow. The Ghazipur Police Station in Lucknow has registered a case based on her complaint. According to the police, the woman’s husband was undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Lucknow, but the high cost of treatment forced the family to return home. During the journey, the driver and helper allegedly harassed the woman. When she resisted, the driver stopped the ambulance in Basti district, about 150 kilometres from their destination, and forcibly tossed her, her brother, and her husband out of the vehicle. Tragically, the accused also disconnected the oxygen support of her husband, who later died. The woman contacted the local police, who arranged for another ambulance to transport her husband to Gorakhpur Medical College. Unfortunately, he was pronounced dead upon arrival.
