Noted historian Makrand Mehta died on Sunday, September 1, at 93. According to reports, the social and business historian from Gujarat breathed his last at a hospital in Ahmedabad, where he was admitted a day before due to suspected dengue. A professor emeritus of history, Mehta was born in Ahmedabad on May 25, 1931. He is survived by his historian wife, Shirin, and two sons - Sangam and Ankit, who reside in Mumbai and Ankelshwar, respectively. The noted historian was known for his extensive research on Gujarat’s social and economic history.
