The Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) today, July 3, announced an immediate holiday for the afternoon session in all schools within its jurisdiction due to continuous heavy rainfall across the region. On instructions from the Municipal Commissioner, Deputy Commissioner (Education) Sanghratna Khillare issued a notification prioritising student well-being. Schools operating morning or full-day sessions were ordered to contact families immediately. The civic body emphasised that students must only be handed over directly to parents or authorised guardians before leaving school premises. The preventive measure follows intense, persistent monsoon downpours impacting the wider Mumbai metropolitan area. The NMMC has instructed all local school managements to implement the order with immediate effect.
