Boko was inaugurated in a ceremony on November 2, presided over by Chief Justice Terrence Rannowane, after a significant victory in the elections held on October 31. The 54-year-old leader of the Umbrella for Democratic Change (UDC) replaces Mokgweetsi Masisi, who conceded defeat following the historic loss of the Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) after nearly six decades in power.
