Speaking outside Sealdah Court on November 11, Roy declared his innocence, stating, “I am innocent. It was Vineet Goyal who conspired the whole thing and framed me.” The trial in the rape and murder case of a junior doctor from RG Kar Medical College began on November 11 at a special court in Kolkata. The charges against Roy, a civic volunteer, were formally framed on November 4. It is to be noted that the CBI, in its charge sheet, has named Roy as the sole accused of the rape and murder of the junior doctor.
