The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued alerts for heavy rainfall and heatwave conditions across multiple states till April 26. According to the IMD, an east-west trough from northwest Rajasthan to east Bangladesh and a north-south trough from north Chhattisgarh to the Gulf of Mannar are influencing widespread weather activity.

In North India, a Western Disturbance over Pakistan will bring rain and thunderstorms to the Western Himalayan Region till April 22. Northeast states like Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura are likely to witness heavy to very heavy rainfall. In South India, rain and thunderstorms are forecast across Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and Telangana over the next seven days. Meanwhile, heatwave conditions are expected in East Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, Haryana, Odisha, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Jharkhand. Hot and humid weather is predicted for Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Marathwada, and Gujarat. The IMD has urged residents to stay alert and take precautions amid shifting weather patterns.
