Bihar Cabinet 2025: Nitish Kumar Retains Key Portfolios, Hands Home Ministry to Samrat Chaudhary; Check Full List
Bihar Cabinet 2025 sees CM Nitish Kumar retain key portfolios while handing over the crucial Home Ministry to BJP leader Samrat Chaudhary, ending his nearly 20-year hold on the department. Deputy CMs Vijay Kumar Sinha and Mangal Pandey, along with BJP state chief Dilip Jaiswal, get major departments in the expanded coalition cabinet.
In a major development following his record tenth swearing-in as Bihar Chief Minister, Nitish Kumar has allocated portfolios to his expanded coalition cabinet while retaining key responsibilities. While Kumar will continue to hold the General Administration, Cabinet Secretariat, and monitoring duties, along with all departments not specifically allocated to other ministers, he has relinquished the Home Department after nearly two decades, with BJP leader Samrat Chaudhary now taking charge. Deputy CM Vijay Kumar Sinha was assigned the Land and Revenue and Mines and Geology Departments, while state minister Mangal Pandey retains Health and Law portfolios. BJP state chief Dilip Jaiswal has been given the Industries Department. The cabinet also accommodates allies like LJP(RV), HAM, and RLM, with portfolios including Sugarcane Industry, Water Resources, and Panchayati Raj. The reshuffle comes after a grand swearing-in at Patna’s Gandhi Maidan, attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP national president JP Nadda, and other NDA leaders, reflecting the alliance’s strong mandate following their 202-seat victory in the 243-member assembly.
