The popular search engine threw light on India's first female professional wrestler who set an example for women to make a mark on a sport which was, in her time, dominated mostly by male athletes. Hamida Banu defeated several male wrestling champions in her career.

Popular search engine Google has several unique ways to keep its users engaged, including doodles. And the doodle for May 4 featured Hamida Banu, an Indian female wrestler. Banu was widely considered to be the first female professional wrestler from India. According to a report on BBC, Banu's foray into wrestling was a path-breaking one, with the sport mainly dominated by men at that time, in the 1940s and 50s. She challenged male wrestlers, promising to marry anyone who beat her.
