Defending champions - India could not repeat the feat as they were undone by the Bangladesh side in the semifinal of the SAFF U-20 Championship 2024 at the ANFA Complex in Kathmandu, Nepal. Asadul Molla opened the scoring for Bangladesh in the 36th minute while Ricky Meetei Haobam levelled late in the second half. But the champion side could not take advantage of the momentum from the late goal and went on to lose the semifinal match in the penalty shoot-out. Bangladesh won the shoot-out with a 4-3 scoreline.
