The star striker scored a goal in Argentina’s 3-0 win over Chile in the FIFA 2026 World Cup qualifier match. He wore Argentina’s jersey number 10, which Lionel Messi usually wears. Reacting to the ‘responsibility’ Dybala said “I tried to represent it in the best way possible”.
Lionel Messi was not part of the Argentina National Football Team in their recent World Cup qualifier match against the Chile National Football Team. In his absence, the experienced Nicolas Otamendi wore the armband as captain of the side while Paulo Dybala wore the iconic Jersey number 10. While Dybala did make an impact on the game coming off the bench, he reacted to the ‘responsibility’ of wearing Lionel Messi’s jersey number for the match. In the post-game interview, he said, "I know it’s not my shirt; we all know it belongs to Leo. I tried to represent it in the best way possible. Some of the guys said I should wear it.
