Arsenal lost for the first time this season as they lost to 1-2 RC Lens in a Group B match in the UEFA Champions League 2023-24 on October 4. The Gunners took a lead in this match courtesy of Gabriel Jesus pouncing on an assist from Bukayo Saka. Lens fought back with Adrien Thomasson levelling the score in the 25th minute of the game. Arsenal's problems were intensified when Saka had to be substituted with an injury and that hampered his side's chances of staging a comeback. Lens took the lead in the second half when Elye Wahi scored in the 69th minute of the game. Arsenal could not get a goal back and eventually had to settle as the second-best team in this contest.
