Traffic Monitoring and Reduced Congestion

Ahmedabad Police reported that overall traffic congestion remained limited during the first three days of Navratri, though minor delays occurred late at night on SG Highway, Ring Road, and key junctions following the conclusion of garba events. The city control room is actively monitoring traffic using 4,300 surveillance cameras, including 3,300 installed under the Smart City Project and 1,000 under the Nirbhaya Project. Law enforcement received three traffic-related calls on October 11, nine on October 12, and five on October 13, maintaining a response time under 10 minutes. This marks a notable decline from the approximately 45 calls received during the same three-day period last year, which police attributed to improved traffic regulation, road engineering, and public cooperation.

Safety Deployments and Community Assistance

City police have deployed dedicated security teams for the festival, including 49 SHE Team vehicles, 12 Abhayam helpline vehicles, 49 special garba vehicles, and 129 patrolling units, including Janrakshak Dial 112 vehicles. "During the first three days, four women who sought assistance were picked up from locations specified by them and safely dropped at their homes," the police said. SHE teams conducted regular inspections across major venues, street garbas, and CCTV control rooms while utilising body-worn cameras. On October 11, officers visited 67 major venues and 341 street events, using 57 body-worn cameras and conducting 54 control room visits. On October 12, visits expanded to 80 major venues and 357 street events, using 73 body-worn cameras and conducting 54 control room inspections.

On October 13, teams covered 80 major venues and 326 street events, using 60 body-worn cameras and carrying out 60 control room checks. Additionally, police teams reunited seven separated children - five boys and two girls - with their families during the first three days of festivities, addressing incidents at venues such as GMDC Ground, TransStadia Eka Club, the Naroda GIDC area, party plots in Isanpur and Sola, and Vejalpur.
