Prime Minister Narendra Modi the Indian chess contingent which won the gold medal in the FIDE Chess Olympiad 2024 in both men's and women's categories. This was the first time India were able to win a gold medal in the FIDE Chess Olympiad and bettered their previous best performance of winning a bronze medal.
