Jan Leike posted on X, "I'm excited to join AnthropicAI to continue the superalignment mission!" On May 17, he posted on X about leaving OpenAI and said, "Yesterday was my last day as head of alignment, superalignment lead, and executive at OpenAI". Jan Leike resigned from OpenAI on May 15, citing that he had disagreed with the company's leadership over core priorities for a considerable time. He said he had finally reached a breaking point. He said, "I joined because I thought OpenAI would be the best place in the world to do this research."
