An earthquake of magnitude 6.6 was reported near Taitung City, Southwest Taiwan, by the United States Geological Survey, considered one of the key international agencies that monitor seismic activity worldwide. The earthquake reportedly occurred 27 kms from Taitung City. Further informed into the matter is awaited.
