The President said the payout was made possible by revenue generated from tariffs and the so-called “Big Beautiful Bill”, and would be distributed among serving personnel. Trump added that the amount of USD 1,776 was chosen in honour of the nation’s founding year, 1776. He further claimed that the country had generated significant revenue due to tariffs, enabling the government to offer this financial benefit to service members.
