BCCI President Sourav Ganguly has announced that four top cricket teams will participate in the cricket tournament in 2021. Australia, England, India will be part of the four-nation tournament. Sourav Ganguly said that one more team will be part of the tournament, which will take place in 2021. The former Indian captain also informed that England Cricket Board, Cricket Australia and BCCI are taking all efforts make this cricket tourney possible. Earlier, BCCI, ECB and Cricket Australia held talks with ICC to conduct the tournament. Talks between ICC and the three boards did not yield any results. ICC offered to conduct one tournament every year from 2023 to 2021, however, the three boards rejected their ideas. According to ICC rules, a multi-nation cricket tournament can only have three teams. Thus, since four-nation series 2021 consists of four teams, it goes against ICC rules. Later, BCCI and ECB held talks over the scheduling of the tournament. Sourav Ganguly, who took over as BCCI President in October, is taking a lot of efforts to develop Indian cricket. Recently in November, Sourav Ganguly conducted India’s first-ever Day-Night Test match against Bangladesh. Eden Gardens Stadium in Kolkata hosted Virat Kohli-led India’s first-ever Test game with Pink ball. After taking over as BCCI President’s post, Sourav Ganguly had said that his priority will be to develop domestic cricket. BCCI also increased the average salary of domestic cricketers after Sourav Ganguly’s order.
