Chennai Super Kings Releases Sam Billings, English Cricketer Writes an Emotional Note for the Franchisee and Fans

Ahead of the IPL 2020 auctions, the franchisees have started building up their team and have released a few players from their contingent. Even Chennai Super Kings released five of their players ahead of the auctions and this even included Sam Billings. The Yellow Army also released Mohit Sharma, Dhruv Shorey, David Willey and Chaitanya Bishnoi. Billings had been a part of the team in the last edition of the IPL 2019 but missed out on the major chunk of the tournament. Prior to that, the English cricketer was unable to capitalise on his innings and further lost his place to the South African cricketer Faf Du Plessis. Now, Billings took to social media and wrote a heartfelt note for the franchisee and its fans. He said that the Yellow Army holds a very dear place in his heart.

The franchisee is now left with the total amount of  14.6 Cr for 2020 auction.  CSK had Rs 3.2 crore left after the 2019 auction besides three crore additional purse for the upcoming auction. After releasing five players, 8.4 Cr has been added to their total purse for auction which will be held in Kolkata.
