Today, on the first day of the Sydney Test between India and Australia, Chesteshwar Pujara brought up his third century at Sydney Cricket Ground. Pujara walked into bat after KL Rahul made his way to the pavilion on the score of 9 runs. Pujara fought against the Aussie bowlers to bring up his third hundred in the four-match Test series. With this, Pujara became sixth Indian batsman to have scored at least three centuries in an away Test series. Sunil Gavaskar, Rahul Dravid, Dilip Sardesai, Mohinder Amarnath are the other names included in the list. He has also joined an elite list of Indian batsman to have played more than 1000 balls in a Test series against Australia on their home soil. Cheteshwar Pujara’s feat had been hailed by many former cricketers including VVS Laxman, Mohammad Kaif, Virender Sehwag and many others. Even the netizens could not keep calm as the right-hander brought up his third hundred against Australia and went on to heap praises on the right-hander.

In the first match, Pujara scored 123 runs from 246 balls and helped India make a comeback into the Test match. In the second innings, he went on to score gritty knock of 71 runs which helped the visitors further. In the third Test at the MCG, Pujara scored 106 and 0 in first and second innings respectively. As of now, Pujara is batting on the score of 130 runs and India has put up 303 runs on the board after losing four wickets.
