What Dale Steyn’s inclusion has done for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) is that it has sharpened their bowling upfront. RCB had a lackluster bowling armoury and needed a leader badly. With Nathan Coulter-Nile unavailability, RCB roped in Steyn. And boy the pacer has been up to the mark thus far in two matches he has played. After picking two wickets against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), Steyn started the match against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in a thumping fashion and picked two wickets in the opening over. Royal Challengers Bangalore vs Chennai Super Kings Scorecard.
Steyn on the fifth ball of his over had CSK opener Shane Watson caught at the lone slip and then on next ball, the South African pacer dismissed Suresh Raina with a superb delivery. Steyn bowled n near-perfect yorker and before Raina could bring his bat down, the bat went past it and disturbed the furniture behind him.
After picking two in two balls, Steyn was all pumped as RCB started their defence of 162 on a positive note. Steyn, who played his first match of the season against KKR, picked two crucial wickets in that game and now again handed RCB an early advantage. At the time of writing this story, Super Kings had lost four wickets for just 32 runs in the six Powerplay overs.
Earlier batting first, RCB managed to post 161 after losing Kohli and AB de Villiers cheaply. Wicketkeeper-batsman Parthiv Patel was top-scorer with 53 off 37 balls for RCB. Moeen Ali played a valuable cameo of 26 runs off 16 balls towards the end.
