David Warner continued his disastrous Ashes 2019 Test series with another unwanted record to his name. The left-handed Australian opener, who was dismissed for a 5-ball 8 in the second over, became the first batsman to register eight single-digit scores in one Test series. The 32-year-old was adjudged to have feathered a Jofra Archer delivery on Day 2 of the fifth Ashes Test between England and Australia at the Oval Cricket ground in London. Warner was initially given not out but walked back after England skipper Joe Root’s review proved successful. David Warner Follows Virat Kohli’s Footsteps in Creating THIS Unwanted Record after Scoring Successive Ducks in Ashes 2019.

The dismissal not just made Warner the first batsman ever to register eight single-digit scores in a Test series but also continued his horror run in Ashes 2019 Test series. Warner’s score of 5 from eight deliveries – succeeding a hat-trick of sucks – is his second-highest score in Ashes 2019. The 61 he scored in the first innings at Headingley is his highest and only time he has managed to reach double figures. The former Australia vice-captain has been dismissed six times by Stuart Broad and thrice by Jofra Archer, including in the first innings at The Oval. David Warner Becomes Stuart's Bunny: ICC Leads the Troll Pack As Broad Gets Australian Opener For Fifth Time in Ashes 2019.

In nine-inning in Ashes 2019 so far, Warner has only managed 84 runs with three successive ducks and has an average of 9.33. And to add to his nightmare, the 32-year-old holds the record of scoring the lowest number of runs by a top-six Australian batsman in a single Ashes series since Peter Toohey in the 1978/79 Ashes. Toohey registered single digit-scores in seven of the 10 innings he played in the 1978/79 Ashes Test series but crossed the 100-run barrier and had scored 81 runs in a Test match.

Warner also overtook former England captain Michael Atherton for most sing-digit scores in one particular Ashes series. Atherton registered seven single-digit scores during the 1997 Ashes series, a record Warner crossed at The Oval. But despite Warner’s misery Australia retained the Ashes – for the first time on English soil since 2001 – and currently, lead the five-match Test series 2-1.
