For a few days now, Assam flood has been in the news and the condition of the state has been heartbreaking. Nearly 30 villages have been adversely affected and remain submerged in the waters of the floods. The adjoining areas of Bihar and Meghalaya have also been affected. Yesterday, Virat Kohli, Virender Sehwag, Rohit Sharma and many other cricketers expressed their solidarity via social media.  This surely did not go down well with the netizens and they urged the cricketers to make their donations instead of just sending thoughts and prayers. Assam Floods 2019: Rohit Sharma, Virender Sehwag & Other Cricketers Pray for People Affected by the Deluge (Read Tweets).

KL Rahul was the latest cricketer to post a tweet on the situation in Assam. His tweet read, “Heart breaking to see the situation in Assam. Thoughts and prayers 🙏🏽 #StayStrongAssam.” An internet user asked the cricketers to follow Hima Das and Gautam Gambhir who not only send out their thoughts and prayers but also did their bit by donating.

More than 100 people have lost their lives due to the floods. Also, three districts in Kerala were also affected by floods. The IMD has issued a red alert for the next three days.
