Hardik Pandya’s ‘Coffee’ Gives Vijay Shankar an Indian Cap in 3rd ODI of Gillette Series 2019 Against Australia

Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul episode on Koffee With Karan 6, led to the ouster of the duo from the ODI team in Australia. The team management then called Vijay Shankar as Pandya’s replacement in the squad. The Tamil Nadu cricketer was handed the Indian cap ahead of the 3rd ODI Gillette Series 2019. Shankar went on to replace Mohammed Siraj in the playing XI. The picture of the Vijay Shankar receiving the cap was shared online by the official account of the Indian cricket team. It was Hardik Pandya’s irresponsible behaviour that gave Vijay Shankar the cap. Check out the snap below.

Vijay Shankar has played five T20Is during the tri-series against Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. He went on to claim three wickets at an average of 51. Shankar who has played only one inning in the bat, had struggled to score runs quickly. After getting the Indian call, he said spoke to PTI and said, “I think I have become mentally stronger now and I have full confidence that I can finish close matches.

India A tour of New Zealand has helped me understand my game much better.” The all-rounder even said that he is not even thinking about the 2019 World Cup as of now. “I am not thinking about World Cup and all those things. You can't play freely if you start thinking like that. I will have to be prepared and if an opportunity comes along the way, I will have to grab it,” he further added.

Meanwhile, Australia has lost the toss and was put to bat first. Yuzvendra Chahal snapped four wickets and dominated the opponents. As of now, the team is on the score of 206 for the loss of seven wickets. Stay tuned for the live updates.
