The first day ICC Women’s World T20 saw a rocking start with a slew of records being broken on an opening day. The first day of the tournament had three matches listed in its schedule; however, the games between India vs New Zealand and West Indies vs Bangladesh were the talking points on different social media platforms.

Be it Harmanpreet Kaur’s blistering century against New Zealand ICC World Women’s T20, or West Indies Deandra Dottin’s five-for against Bangladesh, the first day at the multi-nation tournament was quite a spectacle for the fans.

Here's what ICC Tweeted about Harmanpreet Kaur:

With her historical hundred in the opening match of Women’s World T20, Harmanpreet Kaur became the first Indian woman to score a ton in the T20I format. It was an extraordinary century for the young cricketer given the fact that she was battling stomach cramps en route her match-winning knock.

Harmanpreet Kaur also broke a slew of records during their match against New Zealand. Not only she became the first Indian woman to score a century in Women’s T20 World Cup, but Harmanpreet also bettered her record of being the highest Indian scorer, when she had scored 77 runs off 59 balls against Bangladesh in WT20 in 2014.

Before her hundred, on Friday, the record was held by Mithali Raj, when she had remained unbeaten on 97* runs against Malaysia this year. In her 51-ball knock, Harmanpreet hit 7 fours and 8 sixes.

Her tally of 8 sixes in an innings is the second highest number of sixes hit in woman’s cricket. The record is held by West Indies’ Deandra Dottin who has 9 sixes in a match against South Africa in 2010. ICC Women's World T20 2018 Schedule & Timetable in PDF for Free Download: Date, Time & List of All WT20 Matches in India Time (IST).

Talking about Dottin, she created a couple of records of her own too, when Windies clashed with Bangladesh on Friday. It was Dottin’s brilliance that saw the Caribbean team win the low-scoring encounter by 60 runs.

Here's what ICC Tweeted about Deandra Dottin:

In her quota of 4 overs, Dottin picked up 5 wickets by giving away 5 runs only. Her bowling figures read 3.4-1-5-5. With her career-best figures, she went on to become the bowler with best figures in Women’s World T20. Also, Dottin conceded 18 dots in 23 balls that she bowled and went on to register the cheapest-ever T20 five-wicket haul! ICC Women’s World T20 2018 Free Live Streaming & Telecast Details in IST: Time, Venue, Where and When to Watch Live Video of Women's T20 Matches on TV and Online.

It was quite an electrifying start to the tournament, which also happens to be the first women’s standalone tournament. Both India and West Indies won their matches spectacularly. The stars of the opening night at Women’s World T20 were India’s Harmanpreet Kaur and West Indies’ Deandra Dottin.
