Christchurch, January 30: India registered a thumping 203-run victory over its arch-rivals, Pakistan in semifinals of Under-19 Cricket World Cup 2018. Riding high on batsman Shubman Gill's 102 runs and a fantastic bowling display, two-time world champions India thrashed Pakistan at Christchurch's Hagley Oval cricket ground. The Rahul Dravid mentored side is so far been unbeaten in the tournament. India will be playing Australia on February 3 at Bay Oval, Mount Maunganui who advanced to finals after defeating Afghanistan in their semi-final clash.

It was a clinical performance for Prithvi Shaw led Indian side who excelled in all three departments. Their batting, bowling and fielding efforts were spot on, something their opponents failed to do. After winning the toss, Indian openers Shaw (41) and Manjot Kalra (47) set the tone of the match with 89 runs partnership. However, it was Shubman Gill who played the role of an anchor, smashing an unbeaten century (102 runs) to set a competitive target.

Indian bowling attack that has been praised right through the competition were at it again as they wrapped Pakistan at 69. Ishan Porel was the wrecker-in-chief for India as he rattled through opponent's batting line-up. He picked up four wickets. Riyan Parag and Shiva Singh were also among wickets, taking two wickets each.

Indian colts' impressive performances have also caught the eye of Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise owners. In the recently concluded auctions for the 11th edition of the swanky domestic Twenty20 tournament, IPL team owners splurged to get them on their side. The Man of the Match Gill and fast bowler K.L. Nagarkoti bagged lucrative deals from Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). They are bought for Rs 1.8 crore and Rs 3.2 crore respectively. Under-19 skipper Prithvi Shaw is bought by Delhi Daredevils for Rs 1.2 crore. It is just the beginning for these young guys to spread their wings at the big stage.
