Chasing 225, Afghanistan were bowled out for 213. Shami picked the hat-trick in the last over while defending 16 runs. On the first ball of the final over, Shami was hit for a four by Mohammad Nabi and it appeared that the senior batsman will take his side through. Shami then bowled Aftab Alam and Mujeeb ur Rahman to bowl out Afghanistan and complete his hat-trick. Shami ended with figures of 4/40 in 9.5 overs which included one maiden as well. Apart from him, Jasprit Bumrah was good as well. Indian captain Virat Kohli was top-scorer for his side with 67 runs while Kedar Jadhav made a valuable contribution of 52. The win now takes India to third place on the CWC 2019 points table.
