Earlier, Bangladesh faltered for just 150 runs after opting to bat first. None of the Bangladeshi batsmen could muster a half-century with Mushfiqur Rahim scoring the highest with 43 runs before Mohammed Shami cleaned him up with a ripper. Rahim was also involved in a half-century stand with Bangladesh skipper Mominul Haque (37), which unfortunately was also the only half-century run partnership of Bangladesh's innings. Shami finished with 3/27, which included a double-wicket over, while Ravi Ashwin equalled Muttiah Muralitharan’s record of being the fastest bowler to complete 250 Test wickets at home when he fooled Mominul with a slider to send the Bangladeshi skipper back. There were, however, little worries in an otherwise perfect day for India on the field on Day 1 of IND vs BAN 1st Test match. Opening batsman Rohit Sharma, who had smashed two centuries and a double hundred in the 3-0 Test series win over South Africa, was dismissed for only six runs when trying to drive an outside off-stump delivery. Captain Virat Kohli and his deputy Ajinkya Rahane’s butterfingers will also keep India worried. The two combined to drop four catches on the opening day of the match and although the visitors failed to make most of the respites, dropped catches might play role in the second innings.
