The Day 1 of India vs West Indies first Test witnessed India dominating the opponents at the Saurashtra Cricket Association, Rajkot. It was Mumbai’s Prithvi Shaw who won hearts scoring his maiden ton on his debut after the early departure of KL Rahul in the first over itself. The youngster shattered several records by scoring a 100 in his debut game. Congratulatory messages from Sachin Tendulkar, Harbhajan Singh, VVS Laxman and many others poured in for the 18-year-old. Prithivi Shaw scored a maiden 100, shatters many records! 

Even the official account of Mumbai Police wished the youngster for the feat achieved by him. The Mumbai Police put up a very witty tweet to congratulate the youngster. The tweet read, “From our 100 to yours! It’s always a good start... the very best to you @PrithviShaw #Dial100.”

With a 100 in the debut game, he joined the like of batsmen like Lala Amarnath, Deepak Shodhan, AG Kripal Singh, Abbas Ali Baig, Hanumant Singh, Gundappa Vishwanath, Surender Amarnath, Mohammad Azharuddin, Pravin Amre, Sourav Ganguly, Virender Sehwag, Suresh Raina, Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma. Shaw dedicated his innings to his father and even thanked the cricketing stalwarts who wished him for the century. Prithvi Shaw reacts to the tweets by stalwarts. 

While speaking to the broadcaster, Shaw said, “I was thinking about Dad, as he has sacrificed a lot for me.... My first hundred.. it's all for him. Whenever I score, I score for him," Shaw told the official broadcasters at the end of the day.” The right-hander also went on to admit that he was nervous in the beginning but then played his natural game.
