Yesterday when the BCCI announced the inclusion of Shadul Thakur in the Test team, we are sure that the Mumbai pacer would have been on cloud nine. In fact, just before the second test match between India and West Indies, coach Ravi Shastri handed him over the Test cap and Thakur became the 294th batsman to have represented India. But unfortunately, his happiness was short-lived!  After bowling 10 balls in his debut, the pacer was seen hobbling back to the pavilion. India vs West Indies 2018: Virat Kohli Gets DRS Decision Right; Indian Captain's Childish Celebration Will Make You Laugh (Watch Video).

While bowling to Kieran Powell, the Mumbai pacer was in severe pain and even Indian physio Patrick Farhart came in to check on Thakur’s injury. Shardul showed the place of the problem and from the look of it, it seemed that his groin troubled him. He was soon on his way back to the pavilion and Ravichandran Ashwin had to bowl the remaining overs. Selfie with Virat Kohli: Another Fan Breaks Security Cordon During India vs West Indies 2nd Test Match.

The pacer was rushed for scans immediately. The team management assured that only after his participation will in the Test match would depend on the outcome of the scans. "Shardul Thakur has gone for scans. He will not take the field today. An update on his participation for the rest of the Test will be taken after looking at the scans and after being assessed by the team management," a statement from the team read.

This not the first time that Thakur’s injury has interrupted his play. Recently during the match between India and Hong Kong, the Mumbai pacer got injured. The hip injury bothered him so much that he could not participate in rest of the tournament.
