Put to bat first, West Indies were off to a worse start with Deepak Chahar – playing his only second T20I game for India – dismantling West Indies’ entire top order inside six overs. His early exploits left the hosts reeling a 3/23 at the end of six overs, a situation they never really recovered from. Kieron Pollard scored a quick-fire half-century, while Rovman Powell’s 32 from 20 deliveries took West Indies to a respectable total. The hosts managed 146/6 in 20 overs with Saini taking two wickets to continue his good run in the series.

In reply, India never really looked bothered despite losing openers Shikhar Dhawan and Lokesh Rahul inside five overs. Kohli (59) and Pant (65 not out) engaged in a century-run partnership to take India home and even though Kohli was removed with India 14 runs away from victory, Pant partnered Manish Pandey to help India cross-over.
