England’s opening batsman Jason Roy knocked over umpire Joel Wilson after completing his century. The right-handed batsman was ball-watching as he ran into the umpire. Bangladesh fielder then let the ball through to the boundary and that resulted in Roy’s hundred. Before he could celebrate it, the batsman pushed umpire onto the ground. England players, who were on the balcony cheering for Roy as he completed his century, were left in splits as they witnessed their opener knock down the umpire. Roy was in top form as he slammed Bangladesh bowlers all around the stadium.

Roy completed his century, apparently his first in World Cup, in just 92 balls. He was eventually dismissed on an individual score 153 while looking to smash Mehidy Hasan for fourth consecutive six in the 35th over of England innings. ENG vs BAN- As it Happens.

Roy faced 121 deliveries for his impressive knock as he overtook compatriot Joe Root as the top run-scorer in the ICC CWC 2019. The 28-year-old batsman’s knock was laced with 14 fours and five sixes.

Apart from Roy’s century, Jonny Bairstow and Jos Buttler each registered a half-century as well. England then posted mammoth 386 for six in their 50 overs after Liam Plunkett’s 9-ball 27 down the order. Bangladesh bowlers had an ordinary day in the field. Mehidy Hasan and Mohammad Saifuddin returned with two wickets apiece.
