New Zealand suffered a 247-run defeat against Australia in the Boxing Day Test at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) and with it lost the three-match series with a match to go. After the crushing defeat, the morale apparently was down in the New Zealand camp. However, Blackcaps captain Kane Williamson kept his chin up as he spoke to a section of New Zealand supporters present at the MCG after the match. Williamson appreciated and thanked fans for their support. Tom Blundell Century in Vain As Australia Beat New Zealand by 247 Runs to Win the Boxing Day Test.
The video of Williamson talking to Kiwi supporters is now going viral on social media sites. “I know we are circled by authorities, and I hope you are all behaving. But the support around this Test match has truly been special and the guys hugely appreciate it. I imagine footballers feel a little bit like this, despite the result. But the passion has been truly inspiring. We want to thank you guys," Williamson was heard saying to fans at the ground.
Williamson has not had a great tour thus far on the individual front as well. The right-handed batsman scored 34 and 14 in the opening Test. And in the Boxing Day Test, the Kiwi opener managed just nine runs including a duck in the second innings.
