A woman and her purported lover have been arrested in Jaipur for allegedly killing her husband by poisoning him, police said. The death of 27-year-old Mahesh Meena was initially treated as natural, but a subsequent investigation allegedly uncovered a pre-planned conspiracy involving his wife, Kavita Meena, 23, and her alleged boyfriend, Ganesh Meena, 27.

Police allege that Kavita mixed poison in a glass of juice and gave it to Mahesh on August 5, India Today reported. Investigators suspect that the accused later attempted to make the death appear to have resulted from illness rather than a planned killing. Nizamabad: Woman Kills Husband by Injecting Toilet Cleaner To Be With Lover, Arrested.

Poisoned Juice Allegedly Used In Murder

According to police, Kavita took Mahesh on a motorcycle on August 5 on the pretext of getting medicines. During the journey, she allegedly mixed poison in juice and gave it to him.

Mahesh's condition reportedly deteriorated after he consumed the drink. Kavita then allegedly called Ganesh to the spot. Police claim that Kavita and Ganesh subsequently took Mahesh on a motorcycle towards a bridge.

Investigators suspect that taking Mahesh towards the bridge was part of an attempt to make the circumstances surrounding his death appear consistent with an illness rather than a planned killing. Kavita allegedly called Mahesh's brother, Manish, and told him that his health had deteriorated, asking him to come to the spot. Mahesh was subsequently taken to a private hospital, where doctors declared him dead.

The circumstances surrounding Mahesh's death subsequently raised suspicion among his family members. His relatives approached the police and expressed suspicion that Kavita and her alleged associates could have been involved in his death. The complaint prompted police to examine the circumstances of the death more closely.

Considering the seriousness of the case, a special team was constituted, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Jaipur West) Prashant Kiran said. Police examined CCTV footage, linked evidence and questioned the suspects before arresting Kavita and Ganesh, the DCP said.

The investigation is continuing as police examine the evidence and circumstances surrounding Mahesh's death. The allegations against Kavita and Ganesh are part of the police investigation, and further details are expected as the probe progresses.
