  • All the three winning captains who won the title were Australians.

  • Shane Warne who led Rajasthan Royals in 2008 won the title for the team. Next was Adam Gilchrist who captained Deccan Chargers in 2009 walked away with the winner’s trophy and lastly. The third Australian to win the title was David Warner who led the Sunrisers Hyderabad in 2016.

  • With this, Adam Gilchrist who also Deccan Chargers from 2009-2011 also holds the record of losing the most number of matches i.e. 39.
  • Sri-Lanka’s Mahela Jayawardene and Kumar Sangakkara are the only players to captain three teams. Mahela led Delhi Daredevils, the Kings XI Punjab and the Kochi Tuskers Kerala, whereas Sangakkara captained the Deccan Chargers, Kings XI Punjab, and the Sunrisers Hyderabad.

  • Chris Gayle in 2013 had scored the fastest 100 in 2013. He scored a 100 off 30 balls against the Pune Warriors.

  • David Warner and Chris Gayle have won the prestigious cap twice in their IPL careers. Scoring 562 runs in 14 matches, Warner went on to become the highest run-getter in 2015 of the IPL season. In the fifth season, he scored 733 runs in 15 outings.Talking about the clash later today in the evening, the anticipation is already at its peak as the two best teams are all set to take on each other. Both the teams have locked horns previously on 23 occasions out of which MI won 13 times while CSK won 10 matches. So what one can expect is a nerve-wracking contest between both the teams. Mumbai Indians could be the favourite considering the fact that the team has walked away with the champion’s title thrice. Also because MI has dominated Dhoni’s men on the last three occasions when they have come face-to-face. Even as a team Mumbai Indians will be looking forward to continuing their momentum the last in 2017, on the other, the Yellow Army will look to put their best in the IPL opener.
