The Mumbai Cricket Association is turning out to be a rebel and now has prohibited the women’s team to practice at the Wankhede Stadium after the BCCI shifted the venue for India vs West Indies ODI. The one-day international between India and West Indies will take place on October 29, 2018. The match was supposed to be held in Wankhede but due to the issue of payments and complimentary passes, the match was shifted to Cricket Club of India’s Brabourne Stadium. Looks like the decision did not go down well with MCA and they stopped the women’s team from practising at the venue. BCCI Shifts Second ODI Against Windies from Wankhede to CCI.

The women’s team who is currently preparing for the World T20 matches, was not even allowed to step into the ground due to the issues with the BCCI. Owing to which the officials, Gaurav Saxena and Rishikesh Upadhyaya had to postpone their trip to Australia. Saxena who was supposed to travel to Singapore for the ICC meeting also had to cancel the trip due to the ongoing tiff between MCA and the BCCI.

An official from the BCCI on the condition of anonymity said that the MCA cannot have issues with the players and cannot stop them from entering the ground. However, MCA’s CS Naik defended the act and said, “How can I allow the player inside when the matter is subjudice. I have been made party to the petition and should the High Court allow the game to be restored to the Wankhede, then the ground should be in proper condition.”

Five officials from the MCA approached the Mumbai Court with a petition for restoring the match at the Wankhede Stadium. Hearing of the same is expected to happen today, however, the Brabourne Stadium has already started preparing for the match.
