The social media went into a tizzy after the visuals of Dhoni taking the match-ball from match umpires, Bruce Oxenford and Michael Gough, after the culmination of India vs England 3rd One Day International (ODI) match, surfaced online.

The video clips went viral in no time, and there were widespread speculations about the former Indian captain hanging his boots on his illustrious career! People on social media were all talking about one thing – MS Dhoni’s retirement.

As per a Times of India report, Ravi Shastri has dismissed media reports of MS Dhoni’s retirement, on Wednesday. Shastri said, “MS wanted to show the ball to Bharat Arun. He wanted to show him the wear and tear the ball had endured, to get a general idea of what the conditions were like.”

India lost the third ODI, and eventually the series, in England, on Tuesday. The Indian batting line-up looked listless in their performances, and all the spotlight was shed on none other than MS Dhoni. His slow-cautious approach was deemed to be a problem of low-scoring rate.

Speculations of his retirement rose when Dhoni was seen asking for the match ball after its completion. The following act saw fans across the world ponder over the fact that will Dhoni retire? With Shastri’s clarification, one can be assured that the wicket-keeper batsmen are not going anytime soon.
