Dinesh Karthik has received severe criticism from all quarters after he turned down a single to Krunal Pandya as the wicket-keeper batsman was confident of pulling off a miraculous victory against New Zealand in the third T20I yesterday at Hamilton. According to many netizens, this was the turning point of the match. Not only netizens but also Sanjay Manjrekar and Harbhajan Singh both said that the wicket-keeper batsman shouldn’t have done that as India could have won the game easily. Now, Krunal Pandya’s franchise Mumbai Indians has taken a sly jibe at Karthik on social media. Hardik Pandya Surpasses Brother Krunal to Own This Embarrassing Record During India vs New Zealand, 3rd T20I Match.

Without taking names, Mumbai Indians put out a tweet and wrote, “.@krunalpandya24 26 not-out from 13 balls and got to face only 1 ball in the final over. 🤷🏻‍♂🤔  Hard luck, KP! 💙 #CricketMeriJaan #NZvIND.” Now it’s not rocket science to understand that this was a sly dig at Karthik. Check out the tweet below. Harbhajan Singh and Sanjay Manjrekar Slam Dinesh Karthik For Turning Down a Single During IND vs NZ, 3rd T20I.

The incident happened when India needed 16 runs to win from 6 balls. Karthik in the first ball got a couple of runs and then Tim Southee in the next delivery bowled a wide. But the umpire refused to give an extra run. Kathik on the next ball hit the ball to the long-on and Krunal who was at the other end ran halfway down the pitch and the wicket-keeper batsman turned down the single. The video of the incident went viral and the visitors fell just four runs short.
