Ireland’s maiden Test is not panning out the way newcomers would have hoped for. After Pakistan declared on 310 for nine, Ireland were bundled out for just 130 runs in their first innings. With it, Pakistan for the first time in 16 years enforced a follow-on.  Last time, Pakistan enforced a follow-on was against New Zealand in Lahore in 2002. Pakistan won that Test by an innings and 324 runs. Ireland will resume their second innings trailing by 180 runs. It must be noted, after day one of the historic Test was washed out the follow-on option was changed from a lead of 200 runs to 150 as per the revised conditions.

Put to bat, things started on a shaky note for Pakistan. The visitors were reduced to 159 for six before Shadab Khan and Faheem Ashraf added valuable 117 runs for the seventh wicket. The duo registered respective half-centuries as Pakistan posted a competitive first innings total. Shadab was dismissed for 55 while debutant Ashraf scored 83. PAK vs IRE Live Cricket Score

Ireland’s response then was poor than Pakistan’s start as the home side collapsed to seven for four. It was pacer Mohammad Abbas who made the early inroads for Pakistan. Ireland then failed to bounce back and kept losing wickets.

The hosts were eventually dismissed for just 130 runs. For Ireland, Kevin O Brien was top-scorer with 40 runs. Gary Wilson finished unbeaten on 33 runs. For Pakistan, Abbas retired with figures of 4/44 while spinner Shadab Khan picked 3/31. Fast bowler Mohammad Amir picked two wickets while Faheem Ashraf chipped in with a wicket as well.
