West Indies captain Jason Holder put Pakistan to bat first after winning the toss in Friday's game. The West Indies bowlers bowled short-pitch length consistently, but with great pace and accuracy. The result was that Pakistan were bowled out for 105, their second lowest total ever in all the 12 editions of the World Cups.

The Pakistani batsmen were found wanting on the short-pitch balls and were heavily criticised by fans and former Pakistani players. The West Indies team chased down the total of 106 to win in just 13.4 overs. Chris Gayle scored 50 off 33 balls and hit three sixes to become the batsman with most number of sixes in ICC Cricket World Cups, going past South Africa's AB de Villiers.
