The Indian women’s cricket team beat Australia by 48 runs in the Group B tie. Smriti Mandhana played a vital role by smashing 83 runs from 55 balls, hitting nine fours and three maximums. Harmanpreet Kaur also made 43 runs from 27 balls hitting three sixes and fours. The 27-year old Vlaeminck took a one-handed catch to dismiss Veda Krishnamurthy for the paltry score of three. She was fielding at the backward square-leg as Veda pulled the short ball, but could not get the middle of the bat.
