Many cricket experts believe that the batsman holds the key to winning in the shortest version of the game. Quick-scoring and boundary-hitting are a must in T20 cricket. The fourth season of the TNPL has also witnessed some great knocks where the batsmen demolished the bowling line-ups to all the parts of the ground. So as the TNPL 2019 comes to its halfway stage, let’s have a look some of the great batting performances in the tournament so far.

N Jagadeesan – 105 vs Ruby Trichy Warriors

Dindigul Dragons opener N Jagadeesan scored a magnificent century while chasing a mammoth target and guided his team over the line. Batting first, the Warriors put up 178 runs on the board and were the favourites to win the game. However, the wicket-keeper played a blistering inning while chasing the target and took his team to victory with five wickets in hand. The right-handed batsman was also adjudged the man of the match.

Ravichandran Ashwin- 55 vs TUTI Patriots

The Indian off-spinner is a seasoned bowler and has taken wickets all-over the world. However, this time, Ashwin proved his mettle with the bat in hand. The Dindigul Dragons skipper surprised one and all when he came to bat in the tenth match of the tournament. However, the move proved out to be a perfect masterstroke as the right-handed-batsman toiled the Patriots bowler and brought up his fifty off just 27 deliveries. Ashwin guided his team to 173 runs and the Dragons later won the match by 40 runs.

Murali Vijay- 99 vs Dindigul Dragons

Murali Vijay came to his vintage mode in the encounter against the Dindigul Dragons. The opener went after the bowlers from first ball and scored runs all over the park. Unfortunately, The Chennai-born opener missed his ton by just one run and got dismissed at 99. However, the effort didn’t prove to be enough for the opposition as the Dragons won the match by five wickets.

Murali Vijay- 101 vs TUTI Patriots

After missing out on a ton in the previous match, Vijay didn’t put a foot wrong against the Patriots and scored his ton. The opener made a very cautious start to his innings and just when he got set, the 35-year-old went all guns blazing after the bowlers and notched up his hundred. Vijay guided the Warriors to 177 in the first innings and later the side won the match by 17 runs.

So these were some brilliant knocks played in the 2019 edition of the PKL. Since the tournament has come to its last leg, all the teams will give their best in order to reserve their semi-final berth. The T20 carnival has witnessed some great individual performances till now and the fans will expect a similar display in the knock-out as well.
