The Indian contingent had another glorious day at the Commonwealth Games (CWG) 2018, in Gold Coast, on Friday. Indiaās weightlifting team had another great day at the multi-nation tournament as both, Khumukcham Sanjita Chanu and Deepak Lather won medals in their respective categories.
India extended its successful run at the CWG Games, on the second day, as the Indian contingent added two more medals to their Day One tally. The 24-year-old Sanjita Chanu won the Gold medal in 53 Kgs category. During her lift, Chanu broke the current CWG record with her first lift of 84 Kgs and then rounded it up with another lift of 108 Kgs to total her score to 192 Kgs.
India won another medal, earlier in the day, as the debutant Deepak Lather won the medal in 69 Kgs category. The 18-year-old from Haryana scored a total of 295 Kgs (136 in its first lift and 159 in the second) to hand the Indian team its fourth medal.

As Day 2 ended, the Indian team had four medals - 2 Gold, a Silver, and a Bronze - in their kitty. The Indian team were on the fifth spot, with Australia, England, and Canada occupying the first three spots respectively. The Indian contingent will be participating in a lot of other sports eventsĀ - Boxing, Badminton, Swimming, Weightlifting etc - on Day 3 of the CWG 2018.
On the opening day, India's Gururaja and Saikom Mirabai Chanu had earned medals and made the fans proud. It will be interesting to see how the athletes perform on Day 3 of the CWG Games.
