Indian wrestler Sumit Malik, who won the gold medal in the Commonwealth Games 2018, has admitted having bitten his opponent from Canada Korey Jarvis during their round-robin bout. The Indian, who felt sorry for his action, said the incident took place in the heat of the moment. He went on to make a cheeky comment that Jarvis did not taste like ātandoor chickenā. āIt occurred in the heat of the moment. Defending champion Jarvis eventually finished with the silver after defeating Tayab Raza. He claimedĀ that Sumit not only bit him but poked in the eye as well. āHe poked me in the eye and then he bit me. It feels like groundhog day. I was winning in the last few seconds in Delhi and lost the gold medal -- basically, the same thing happened today,ā Jarvis said.
Sumit won the gold in menās 125kg freestyle class after Nigeriaās Sinivie Boltic had to forfeit following his injury.
Meanwhile, India finished third with 66 medals at the CWG 2018. India bagged 26 gold, 20 silver, and as many bronze medals. Australia ended with 198 medals followed by England (136 medals).
